Mass Times and Intentions

SECOND COLLECTION THIS WEEK: For Evangelii Gaudium (The Joy of the Gospel) Sunday. The funds support evangelisation and the work of the Bishops’ Conference Mission Directorate in England and Wales.

PILGRIM VIRGIN STATUE OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA HOME VISITATION SIGN UP FORMS :
The Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima is still available for home visitation throughout the year. Several forms were collected at the back of the church; please return them to Adline at the repository after the 9am Mass or Sophia after the 12 noon Mass at OLI on Sundays. On Saturday, you can also return the forms to the Sacristy on Saturdays after the 10:30am at OLI. May Our Lady of Fatima pray for us, bless our homes and families.

SVP Fund-Raising for South Sudan - 28th September - Hall of Games:
In St Augustine Church at 7 pm. We've pinched ideas from a number of popular television games shows for this. 7pm for a 7:15pm start. Teams of 6 to 8 - bring your own team or join a table to form one and meet new people that evening. Various table top rounds which include general knowledge, music, practical skills, deduction and memory "tasks" - hopefully something for everyone! LINKED PARISH PILGRIMAGE TRIP TO WALSINGHAM:
Monday 7th October 2024. Envelopes available at the back of the Churches to book your place on the coach trip leaving from our three Parish churches. The coach will leave Holy Name Church at 7:30am, Our Lady Immaculate at 8am and St Augustine Church at 8:30am. The cost is £20 per person. Envelopes can be handed in to the Parish Office or via the collection plate. Limited places still available. For further information please call the Parish Office.

KSC QUIZ ABOUT TOWN:
The Knights of St. Columba are organising their Annual Walking Quiz about town, this year in Felsted, on Sunday, September 29th. It is an observation Quiz, no knowledge of Felsted is necessary, and it is suitable for all ages; children have enjoyed previous years quizzes. We will have supper afterwards, but you can join us for the just the Quiz or the supper. This is an ideal opportunity to meet the Knights in an informal way. Musicians required for the 7pm Mass in Our Lady Immaculate Church:
On the fourth Sunday of every month there will be a new music group to lead the singing at the 7pm Mass in Our Lady Immaculate Church. If you would like to join this group please speak with Martin Humphries or contact the Parish Office.

HELP NEEDED:
For a partially sighted disabled lady in the parish to shop and clean and general help on Mondays for 3.5 hours and Thursdays for 4 hours in the Springfield area, short term employment also considered. References and access to a car essential. Rates and hours worked negotiable on application. For more information enquire via the Parish Office. Applicants from the Chelmsford locality preferred.

Pilgrims of Hope 2025 across our Chelmsford Catholic Parish Partnership:
As we prepare for the Holy Year 2025 our focus in these coming months of the Church worldwide is Prayer. The first of our parish prayer talks is this Thursday 19th Sept beginning at 7:30pm in Holy Name Church Canon Wilson Hall called “Introduction to Prayer” with Fr Martin. All are welcome. The following session will be on Thursday 10th October 2024 with Servite Sisters on "Mary and Prayer".

RCIA AUTUMN:
The parish Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults course begins on the 26th September at 7pm-8:30pm. For anyone who is interested in making this journey of faith Programme with the opportunity of being received into full-communion with the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil, please get in touch with the Parish Office and encourage them to come to the first session. For more information and planned dates for 2024 please see the website. All are very welcome to begin this journey by joining us on the first prayer session in Holy Name Church Hall on the 19th September.

YOUNG CATHOLIC ADULTS IN CHELMSFORD:
Thank you to all attending or supported last weeks event with Fr Damien. Keep the date free for the next event on the 20th October after the 7pm Mass. Please pass on your details to the Parish Office to be included in the mailing group for more information about all upcoming events and activities, and to pass on any ideas or suggestions.

KSC ANNUAL LECTURE:
Ginny Parry will be speaking about her experience working with refugee children in France, Greece and Iraq. Ginny will be talking about her experiences, both the successes and the challenges of working in the camps. She will be speaking at St. John Payne (Aquinas Hall) on Wednesday 2nd October, at 19.30 (for 19.45). All welcome.

ART EXHIBITION:
The Most Holy Redeemer, Laindon Road, Billericay, CM12 9LL, will be holding an exhibition of art work by a parishioner, Terry Ludden, on Saturday 5th October, 2.30pm-5pm in the Canon Roche Hall (behind the Church).
The paintings will be for sale, all proceeds will go to the Parkinsons Society and the local Foodbank. There will be light refreshments and live music. Feel free to pop along.

Brentwood Catholic Children’s Society (BCCS):
has a number of Gold Bond Charity places for runners in the LONDON MARATHON taking place on Sunday 27th April 2025. If you are an experienced runner or someone who would value the opportunity to participate in this renowned event, please contact Damian Dillon for further details on 07912 308000 / ddillon@bccs.org.uk. The closing date for completed applications is Friday 26th September and please note that there is a minimum sponsorship requirement of £1800 (excluding Gift Aid).
If you have been lucky enough to secure your own running place through the ballot, BCCS would invite you to join them and run to support children’s mental health. The London Marathon is a unique opportunity to raise much needed funds for the Diocesan Children’s Society and perhaps achieve a lifetime ambition at the same time.

QUIZ NIGHT 5th OCTOBER:
Run by Chris and the Knights of St Columba at Blessed Sacrament Parish Hall, Melbourne Avenue. £5 a ticket, children free. Bring Friends and family and make a table of 8 or sign up for a table of 8 and make new friends.
