LINKED PARISHES CHRISTMAS FAYRENEXT SUNDAY 24th NOVEMBER 10am-2:30pm
Our Christmas Fayre will take place NEXT Sunday Please do pop in for your breakfast bacon roll, & tea & coffee or for delicious soup and a roll or just a drink and a homemade cake. There will be lots of lovely stalls run by our Parish organisations and the opportunity to buy Christmas gifts, delicious homemade cakes, bric a brac, toys, books, jewellery and much more! We look forward to seeing you there! Donations of cakes for the Christmas Fayre would be gratefully received and can be left at OLI Hall on Friday 22nd November or brought in on the day to OLI School Hall. Donations of new items, toiletries, bottles for the bottle stall & Christmas foods will still be gratefully received and can be left at the back of the churches or brought in to OLI hall on set up day, Friday 22nd November during the day. CHRISTMAS DRAW TICKETS: Just a reminder that sold Christmas draw ticket counterfoils can be put in an envelope with the money and placed in the Sunday Mass collection basket or left at the parish office. If you could return any unsold tickets we can then resell them. Please try to sell as many as you can. All proceeds to our parishes. £300 first prize, large Christmas Hamper second prize and many more lovely prizes to be won. With many thanks.
Pilgrims of Hope 2025 across our Chelmsford Catholic Parish Partnership: The penultimate of our Linked Parish Prayer talks in preparation for the Pilgrim Year of Hope beginning in Advent is on Thursday 21st November at 7:30PM in Blessed Sacrament Church on "St Ignatius and discernment in Prayer," with Bishop Alan Williams.
Red Wednesday- 20th November 2024: The outside of Our Lady Immaculate Church in Chelmsford will be lit up in red from Sunday 17th November to Sunday 24th November as a sign of solidarity and support for Faith and Freedom. The event is supported by Aid to the Church in need which is a Pontifical Foundation of the Catholic Church supporting Catholics and other Christians who are persecuted, oppressed or in pastoral need. NOVEMBER LISTS OF THE DEAD: During the month of November, Masses are offered for the repose of the souls whose names are placed on the sanctuary during the month of November. Envelopes and lists are available at the back of the churches, please return to a Priest or Parish office.
NEXT WEEK SECOND COLLECTION WORLD YOUTH SUNDAY: A unique opportunity to celebrate the role and significance of young people in the Catholic Church. The second collection supports the work of the Brentwood Catholic Youth Service. CLEANING DAY IN ST AUGUSTINE'S CHURCH: On Saturday the 30th of November from 9.30 am to 11.30am. We hope to tidy up the grounds of the church and the low gutters as well. Please come and help the team, all welcome.
FROM ADVENT NEW LECTIONARIES: will be used in all three churches. Each of the new lectionaries and book of the gospel will have a dedication and inscription in the cover. If you would like to donate one of these in memory or thanksgiving, please speak with a Priest or contact the Parish Office. They are available to view in the sacristy.
SVP Springfield & CHELMSFORD Conference. Annual Giving Tree appeal: This weekend after all Masses SVP will be appealing for you to select a gift tag with a present suggestion for a child from one of the families they support. They would like your help in reaching out to those in need by providing gifts for children and adults this Christmas. The suggested amount to spend is between £10 and £15. They ask you to return the presents, unwrapped by Sunday 8th December. Many thanks for your support to the SVP and all the work they do for those in need across the parishes.
THE SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE: The proposed law for to legalise assisted dying for terminally ill adults in England and Wales has been formally introduced in the House of Commons. MPs are due to debate and vote on the bill on 29th November - further debates and votes would be needed before the bill becomes law. The Bishops conference ask all to pray to maintain the sanctity of all life from conception until natural death remaining the law, and urge also that we should write to our MP’s strongly objecting to any change in the law legalising assisted suicide. https://righttolife.org.uk/ASt...
Light Up A Life this Christmas: At Farleigh Hospice, we know that Christmas can be an especially difficult time when someone close to you has died. Our Light Up A Life services are a thoughtful way to remember those special people who are no longer here with us. We warmly invite you to join us at St Luke's Church Moulsham Lodge for a candle lit Carol service on Saturday 30th Nov at 4pm. All welcome.
DIVINE MERCY DEVOTIONS: Take place in Holy Name Parish Church after the 7:30pm Mass on Monday. All are welcome.
THE SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY: provides practical support where possible for those who need it. Are you, in need of help, or know someone who is? HOSPITAL AND SICK VISITS: If you or a member of your family go into hospital, or are sick and housebound, please inform the Parish Office so a priest or the Legion of Mary can visit you.
