November - Month of the Holy Souls

The Catholic Church designates November as a special month, to pray for and remember those who have died.

The month begins with the feast of All Saints (Wednesday Nov 1st) and the feast of the Holy Souls (Thursday Nov 2nd).

The month of November gives each of us the opportunity to remember our dearly departed family and friends. We enter their names on the list of the dead and place their names on the Altar to remember them during this month of the Holy Souls

In our Churches we will be having Masses during November to remember loved ones across the Parish.

On Friday 3rd of November there will be a Mass at 7:30pm in Our Lady Immaculate for the First Friday Devotions.

Masses for deceased loved ones will be held in each of our Parish Churches at 7:30PM on the following dates:

  • The Holy Name - Friday 22nd November.
  • St. Augustine of Canterbury - Friday 15th November.
  • Our Lady Immaculate - Friday 29th November.

Also during November Priests will be available to bless graves on the following dates:

Sunday 3rd November at after the 9am Mass in Our Lady Immaculate and St Augustine of Canterbury churchyards

Additionally Priests will be available the same day (Sunday 3rd) in the car park of Chelmsford Crematorium on Writtle road between 3-4pm for graveside blessings.

On Sunday 10th November at 2pm Priests will be available in Galleywood and Great Baddow Lawn cemetery.

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family.

Amen.
